🔧 Vehicle Diagnostic Policy Purpose: To clearly outline the procedures, costs, rights, and responsibilities involved in vehicle diagnostics, ensuring mutual protection for both the client and the mechanic. 1. Diagnostic Authorization No diagnostic work will begin without written or digital authorization from the vehicle owner or an authorized representative. Clients must provide accurate vehicle information, a description of symptoms, and prior service history (if available). 2. Diagnostic Fee A non-refundable diagnostic fee will be charged, which covers time, labor, and the use of diagnostic tools. The fee will be disclosed before any work begins and must be approved by the client in writing. If repairs are approved and performed by the same shop, all or part of the diagnostic fee may be credited toward the final bill (at the shop's discretion). 3. Scope of Diagnosis The diagnostic process may include: - Computerized scans - Physical inspection - Test drives - System pressure tests - Diagnostics may uncover multiple issues, not all of which are initially visible. 4. Repair Estimates and Authorization No repairs will be performed without explicit approval from the client. A detailed estimate (parts, labor, taxes, and time) will be provided based on the diagnostic findings. The client has the right to decline repairs and pay only the diagnostic fee. 5. Accuracy and Limitations Diagnostics provide the best possible assessment based on available data and symptoms. Hidden or intermittent problems may not be immediately detectable. Mechanics are not liable for undiagnosed issues that manifest after or during unrelated repairs unless caused by negligence. 6. Client-Supplied Parts If the client opts to supply their own parts, the shop is not liable for part failure or related damages. A separate waiver must be signed when using customer-supplied parts. 7. Storage and Abandonment Vehicles left unclaimed for more than 8 business days after diagnostics (or after declined repairs) may incur daily storage fees. After 30 days, the vehicle may be considered abandoned and subject to legal disposal in accordance with local laws. 8. Client Rights Clients are entitled to a copy of all diagnostic results and estimates. Clients may seek a second opinion at any time but must settle outstanding diagnostic fees first.
